• Laser Vein Treatment

  HOW LASER VEIN TREATMENT WORKS. The Lux 1064 delivers energy into the blood and vessel walls, where it is absorbed by hemoglobin. With each pulse, the hemoglobin is heated by the absorption of energy, and the vessel coagulates and closes off. The constricted vessel then degenerates, and the treated leg veins typically disappear from the surface of the skin. This takes only a few minutes to treat each discolored vein. Depending upon the severity of the veins, you may require between 1 and 3 laser treatments, spaced at 2-4 weeks apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessels, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented. WHAT TO EXPECT Most people describe laser vein removal as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. However, we can provide anesthetic to our patients who request it. Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling or bruising. This doesn't happen often, and is typically gone within a few hours. Others may experience pigmentary changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time. Since laser treatment does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary and you can return to your normal activities immediately.

LASER VEIN TREATMENT SCLEROTHERAPY HOW SCLEROTHERAPY WORKS A liquid solution is slowly inserted into the appropriate vein. The solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to swell shut and block the flow of blood. WHAT TO EXPECT Sclerotherapy requires multiple sessions, and can be performed on an outpatient basis. One to three treatments are usually required to effectively treat any vein. Post-treatment therapy includes wearing bandages and support hose for two days - two weeks following treatment. The treated blood vessels disappear over a period of six months.

• Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

  WHAT IS RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION? The ClosureFast procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Using ultrasound, your physician will position the catheter into the diseased vein through a small opening in th skin. The small catheter delivers heat to the vein wall, causing it to shrink and the vein to seal closed. Once the diseased vein is closed, blood will reroute itself to other healthy veins. Following the procedure, a simple bandage is placed over the insertion site, and additional compression may be provided to aid healing. Your doctor may encourage you to walk, and to refrain from extended standing and strenuous activities for a period of time. The average patient typically resumes normal activities within a few days. But we’re discovering that this simple action of creating a tiny wound without heat or any other high technology works remarkably well. ​ What to expect: Compared to resurfacing lasers, microdermabrasion, or peels, in-office microneedling has very little downtime. There may be some redness that appears several hours after the treatment, but any tenderness or discomfort is minimal. Dr. Chwalek says that topical numbing cream is often applied prior to treatment to lessen the slight stinging sensation. ​ How often: For the treatment of acne scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles, it is recommended you get treated every four to six weeks since it can take a few treatments to see results. It may also take several treatments to see better firmness or elasticity, but results can be long-lasting.
