The Certified Licensed Caregivers at Groves Assisted Living Homes specialize in compassionate caregiving to seniors affected by Alzheimer's and memory care issues. If one of your parents is in such a situation, we invite you to have a heart-to-heart conversation with us about their long-term care. Sherre Weeks, RN MSN is available for you at (520) 360-8090. Our memory care facilities consist of two secure campuses with three homes each, specially designed and built to be ADA compliant. The campuses are gated communities and provide a secure environment for residents with memory issues. As you will see when you visit us, all residents are free and encouraged to roam indoors and out and between homes without feeling imprisoned and constricted in their freedoms. our homes have French doors leading to large patios so activities flow from indoors to outside naturally. The primary Groves campus, located at 4014-4034 E Pima Street, consists of three 3,000-square feet homes built in 1998. The first Groves campus, located at 4110 E Spring Street, was built in 1996, and consists of three 3000-square feet ADA compliant homes. The Groves facilities were built as ADA compliant homes with wide halls, all level surfaces, and large roll-in showers. The Groves invested $500,000 to renovate all of its homes in 2014. Each care home received new flooring, bathrooms, kitchens, HVAC, French doors, patios, solar tubes, light fixtures, and furniture including lift chairs and big screen TVs. We also are installing artificial grass, putting greens, and raised gardens for our residents' enjoyment. • Alzheimer's Disease Care Services

Alzheimer's disease causes a slow, progressive decline in mental functions. With progression, the brain has difficulty sorting through all the varied stimulants a person faces in everyday life. The person may become frightened or fearful of social situations and prefer to be alone most of the time. There is often accompanying depression as an individual recognizes they are having difficulties. The burden of caring for the person becomes more difficult as time passes and function decreases. At the Groves, we are ready to help. We understand that caring for the Alzheimer's victim is too much for one person and strains the entire family. We understand you want the best care possible for your loved one. We understand the problems and safety issues faced when the victim can no longer differentiate right from wrong, hot from cold, safe from unsafe, or begins to wander. When this time comes, it's time to seek help.

  • Dementia Care Services at Groves Assisted Living Homes

Dementia is not really a disease, but a group of symptoms demonstrating a decline in mental capabilities. Alzheimer's disease is one cause of dementia, but there are also many other diseases and conditions which cause dementia. It is always important to contact your doctor if you or a loved one are experiencing memory problems, as many of these are reversible with early recognition and treatment. Dementias can present themselves as memory problems, behavior problems, poor judgment, fear, social withdrawal, anger, cursing, and general difficulty handling life's everyday stressors. Behaviors often escalate under stress, placing an undue burden on the caregiver and family.
